Electrical Certificate (Boletín/CIE) in Tenerife
The electrical certificate (Certificado de Instalación Eléctrica, CIE — known locally as the boletín) is the document that proves your installation meets current regulations. You need it to connect power supply, sell or rent out a property, or legalise an existing installation.
When you need an electrical certificate
The electrical certificate isn't optional in several everyday situations:
- New power supply connection or change of account holder
- Selling or renting out a property (requested by notaries, agencies and some utility companies)
- Increasing your contracted power
- Legalising an installation that never had a certificate, or whose certificate has expired
- Renovations that affect the fuse board or the fixed installation
How we handle it
We inspect the installation on site, check it meets the Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regulation (REBT), and carry out the necessary tests (insulation, earth continuity, RCD tripping).
If we find anything that doesn't meet current regulations, we explain it upfront — cost and reason included — so you can decide how to proceed. Once everything's in order, we issue and register the certificate with the Canary Islands Government.
