Fuse Boards & Consumer Units in Tenerife

The fuse board (consumer unit) is the control point for your whole installation. If it's old, has no RCD or falls short of what you use today, replacing it is the foundation of a safe installation.

Signs your fuse board needs looking at

Some common signs that a fuse board is out of date or no longer big enough:

  • It has no RCD, or the one it has is a very old model
  • The circuit breakers trip often for no obvious reason
  • You're increasing your contracted power and the current board can't take it
  • You want to add new circuits (air conditioning, an EV charger, smart home) and there are no spare ways left
  • The board uses fuses, or predates the current regulations

How we handle a board change

We assess the current board, the contracted power and the existing circuits before proposing anything — we don't sell you a bigger board than you need.

The change is planned to keep the time without power to a minimum, and it always comes with the corresponding electrical certificate (boletín) when the modification requires one.

Frequently asked questions

How long will the power be off during a board change?

It depends on how complex the installation is, but we coordinate the work so the power is off for no longer than strictly necessary.

Do I need to change the board if I'm installing an EV charger?

Not always, but it's common when the current board has no spare ways or the available power is tight. We assess it during the visit before quoting.

My board still uses fuses — can it be modernised?

Yes, it's one of the most common changes we do. We replace the fuse board with a current one fitted with an RCD and circuit breakers, adapted to your installation.

Does your fuse board need looking at?

We tell you plainly whether you need a replacement or an adaptation is enough, with no pressure and no padding.
