How we work
Every installation is handed over tested with measuring equipment, not judged by eye. This is how we verify that your installation complies with the Spanish Low Voltage Regulation (REBT).
The regulatory measurements we carry out
The REBT requires an electrical installation to be checked with measuring equipment before it's signed off, not just inspected visually. These are the main verifications we do on every job:
- Continuity of protective conductors and equipotential bonding
- Insulation resistance between conductors
- Earth electrode resistance
- Loop impedance, to confirm the protective devices operate within the required time under a fault
- RCD tripping at rated sensitivity
- Polarity checks and functional tests of switches and accessories
What is loop impedance, and why does it matter?
Loop impedance measures the total resistance of the fault circuit — from the origin of the installation to the point being measured and back to earth. If that impedance is too high, the RCD or circuit breaker may not disconnect in time under a fault, leaving the installation in a hazardous state even though it appears to work normally.
Measuring it isn't optional: it's the only way to confirm the protective devices will actually operate when they're needed, not just that they're fitted.
Our process, step by step
Before quoting: we assess the existing installation (or the project, for a new build) and explain clearly what's needed and why.
During the work: we carry out the installation or repair in line with the regulations, with materials suited to how the home or business is actually used.
On completion: we test the installation with the measuring equipment listed above and, if the job requires it, process the corresponding electrical certificate (boletín).
We don't consider a job finished until we've verified the measurements fall within the values the regulations require.
Ventajas
Professional measuring equipment
Every check is made with calibrated equipment, not by eye.
Paperwork when it applies
Electrical certificate and registration with the Canary Islands Government when the job requires it.
Transparency
We explain what we measured and what it means, not just hand you an invoice.
Frequently asked questions
Do these checks cost extra?
[PENDIENTE: indicar si las mediciones van incluidas en el presupuesto o se facturan aparte]. We always state it in the written quote.
Can I ask for the measurement results in writing?
[PENDIENTE: confirmar si se entrega un informe o certificado de mediciones al cliente, y en qué formato].
Are these checks required by law?
Yes, they are part of the verifications the Low Voltage Regulation (REBT) requires before an electrical installation can be signed off as compliant.
